Currently a university student in my final year of study, a reoccurring theme in my work is juxtaposing opposites, such as balance and tension, order and chaos, singular and collective. Most recently I am exploring the notions of micro and macro through three-dimensional experimentation – a collection of small elements that form something larger. Considering and responding to space, shape, form and arrangement are the main principles of my work.
The installation above the glass-domed roof of the gallery consists of a mass accumulation of clear acrylic hooks and contrasting solid white hooks, each individually connected to form a shape that reflects the space.
This structure has been used in two other locations, including Spring Bank mill, each time arranged differently in response to the space and environment of the location.

Incremental.

With the use of a laser cutter I have been able to produce multiple components, each exactly the same, simple squares. Stacked incrementally, with an even rotation, they create a complex construction, which would appear to have no connection to its humble beginnings. The column has been centre lit to enhance its twisted aesthetic and radiate a warm glow.
The form evolved from studying the molecular make up of DNA strands and the double helix structure that is produced by a process called supercoiling. This is when two strands of DNA become twisted into a spiral, developing the form we associate with the term. Along with RNA and proteins, DNA is one of the three major macromolecules that are essential for all known forms of life, therefore being a fundamental factor in our existence.

What I love about street photography is its spontaneity, so I'm not usuallyout hunting for an image; it's more something I notice naturally when outexploring. I tend to look for interesting forms and colours that people may seeevery day of their lives but don't stop to notice. The colours may come fromnatural light that only exists for a very small portion of the day, orcontrasting colours that are man made. A lot of this tends to be fairly grittyto an extent, I can't really explain why this side of photography attracts me, andI guess it's just the style that I developed over time.

In this series of drawings I am beginning to explore where my work could go next, building on the themes and characters that feature in my silent film Insomniac. Whereas the events in Insomniac mainly take place inside the mind of a character, the events in Demise will move into the experiences of others and the bleak post-industrial landscape that waits outside.

The visual style of Insomniac could be called a moving collage as camera footage is shown alongside animations created from 212 hand painted frames. The film is also divided into 4 acts designed to be shown simultaneously across 4 seperate screens. The silent, black and white visuals loop continuously becoming more out of sync so that different versions of this collage are being constantly created.

I made Insomniac because I wanted my still paintings to move and describe how the images look in my head. My work aspires to the depth and power of cinema, specifically film noir's expressionistic style of visually describing an individuals perspective.

I would consider my self to be a documentary photographer. Most of my work is based on my surroundings and how I observe and relate to them. I like to photograph the places that people don’t usually notice, I like to work in areas that are forgotten and capture the elements that make that certain area unique.

Two foxes fighting

Medium: Sticks, Wire, bone, conckers

I like fighting, not personally, or with people, I like the idea of battle, compromise, and coming to an arrangement over a situation. I do not know who won this particular scuffle, but hopefully both parties can still be mates afterwards.

The Young Mods Forgotten Story

The Young Mods Forgotten Story is a homemade compilation I made as a gift for a work colleague. I don't claim to be an expert, these are just a few of my own favourite mod related tracks. There are a few obvious ones along with a couple that I think are less so, but I was directing it more towards working as a fun mix of songs.
